Family Mediation

Family Mediation

Family Mediation is a voluntary and co-operative process where a trained family mediator helps separating or divorcing couples resolve a variety of issues related to the break-up of their relationship.

These issues can include:

  • When and how to separate
  • Parenting plans and principles including custody and access
  • Child support
  • Spousal support
  • Division of property

Family mediation does not lead to an imposed settlement. Mediation is a focused system of problem solving which improves communication, and saves time and money as compared to litigation or other forms of conflict resolution. Couples may choose to resolve all or only some of their issues through the mediation process.  FairOutcome also has a list of professionals they refer to if additional help is necessary.

Upon completion of the MOU (Memorandum of Understandings) Independent legal advice is to be received by a family lawyer for final completion of the separation agreement.
